Queen Nwanyinnaya Chikwendu is a social development professional with over 4 years of experience in advancing the rights of women and girls in Nigeria. She has delivered key advocacies that has improved women representation in local governance; promoted sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) for women, adolescents and young people, and contributed to mobilizing young people’s inclusion in Nigeria’s political and electoral processes by promoting peaceful and constructive youth engagement with political stakeholders.
Queen is currently the Programs Officer, Innovation Hub for Inclusiveness, Empowerment and Social Development (SieDi-Hub) where she is leading programs design and implementation targeted at improving health, well-being and development of women, young people and children. Remarkably, as an Advocacy Associate with International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP), Queen led a team of young health experts to initiate the development of a policy directive that promotes youth friendly services for SRHR of young people in Anambra State under the IYAFP’s Sustaining Evidence Driven Advocacy Project (SEDA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Anambra State in 2021. This is monumental as young people took ownership and leadership in driving a policy change addressing a problem that directly affected them.
